School Policies

Solas An Lae, School of American Irish Dance.

New York's groundbreaking educational and performance

institution of American Irish Dance.

SAL dancers are required  to wear clean, well-fitting Dancewear at each class.

SAL dancers are required to wear appropriate Irish dance shoes to class, in good condition, and tied correctly.

SAL dancers are expected to perform in a recital performance twice a year.  They  are required to order and purchase assigned costumes and attend all rehearsals.

SAL dancers are expected to attend class regularly and may make up missed classes at a comparable level class within the semester of the absence.

SAL dancers and families are expected to respect the other businesses at the Chocolate Factory by keeping noise outside the studio to a minimum when entering and exiting the building.  Dancers of school age should be dropped off and picked up at the appropriate times.  Families are not permitted to loiter at the doorway during class, as it creates a distraction to dancers and an obstacle to patrons of other businesses.

SAL dancers are to wear hair neatly tied back and off the face.

No food is permitted in the studio, unless otherwise notified.

All water bottles must have secure tops.

Cell phone use is not permitted during class. All phones must be turned off and secured inside of dance bags.

SAL cannot be held liable for dancer injury in class/performance or on the Chocolate Factory premises.

Registration must be received during specified registration periods. Full payment is required at the time of registration. There are no refunds after registration. Under circumstances of injury, tuition may be carried over through another semester.

Images of SAL dancers may be used for promotional purposes. SAL must be informed during the registration period, in writing, of any students declining to be included in films or photos. In this case, the student's participation in any or all of the schools functions and performances is limited.

If class is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be posted on the website under the link “Announcements” and

on the answering machine at 845-876-5694. Make up classes for these cancelations will be announced and rescheduled by SAL.
