Solas An Lae, School of American Irish Dance.
New York's groundbreaking educational and performance
institution of American Irish Dance.
The Solas An Lae Dance Program offers complete and comprehensive dance courses at Pre-beginner levels through advanced for children to young adults in four seasonal semesters throughout the year. Classes feature hands on instruction by SAL’s Artistic Director, Deirdre Lowry and members of the SAL Dance Company. The program covers a wide range of dance training and technique; From the basic fundamentals to advanced traditional Irish Dance, Ballet and barre work, modern dance technique to complete body association, conditioning and coordination. As students progress through the program the course is expanded upon and refined, continuously challenging students to stretch themselves physically, creatively and emotionally.

Solas An Lae believes that the study of dance is a celebration and essential to a child’s education and development. The spirit of the program is a reflection of this celebration through movement, imagination, creativity and resolve.
Solas An Lae provides a dance environment that inspires, and continues to create leaders and individuals. Through commitment, hard work, and friendship, students of Solas An Lae discover dance/movement as an essential motivating tool to use in every aspect of their lives.
The Solas An Lae, School of Irish Dance,was founded in 1998 by veteran Irish Dancer, Deirdre Lowry. Through her dedication and devotion to the unlimited possibilities of traditional Irish dance, Solas An Lae is at the forefront of a new direction in Irish dance education.
Deirdre states, “Irish dance is beautifully captivating, and technically complex. I’ve found that Its cadences and step work appeals to young students of dance on a very instinctive level, and its versatility and power is limitless.”
